FCCT Attends Annual Celebration of Philippine Sovereignty

The day of celebration for freedom has always been celebrated throughout the nation. It is a celebration from war and chaos which spread through the country for a long period of time. The Independence Day was then announced on the 5th of June 1898, with a decree issued by Emilio Aguinaldo, that the commemoration of independence will be celebrated every 12th of June.

This year, the Philippines celebrated its 121st commemoration of independence from the Spanish colonization. It was with the theme “TAPANG NG BAYAN, MALASAKIT SA MAMAMAYAN”.

All cities and municipalities in the country celebrated the occasion. Toledo City, one of the cities in the Province of Cebu, is no different from the cities which celebrated the event. The Local Government Unit invited every sector in the city (religious, business, NGO, etc.) to be one with them in the celebration and First Consolidated Cooperative Along Tañon Seaboards (FCCT) was invited.

Personnel and staff from the FCCT Head Office, FCCT Don Andres Soriano (Lutopan), SMAPLC DAS, FCCT Balamban, SMAPLC Asturias, FCCT Sangi, FCCT Cantabaco and FCCT Pinamungajan attended the gaiety.

A parade started the celebration. After which, everybody convened at a gathering by the marketplace for a short program. Important people in the City of Toledo attended the event. Outgoing City Mayor John Henry Osmeña and newly-elected City Mayor Joie Perales gave their heartfelt messages about the event.

After the event, all FCCT personnel and staff who attended the parade went straight to the Head Office Conference Hall for a salo-salo.

It was, indeed, a wonderful sight to see such a large crowd assembled together to celebrate our nation’s sovereignty from the foreign invaders and to commemorate the deeds our heroes did to attain this freedom. Hopefully, in the years to come, may we still be able to continue in celebrating this historic feat being done by our fellow patriotic countrymen a long time ago.
