ENHANCEMENT IN ADAPTATION AND ACCURACY

3rd Floor FCCT Building Sangi, Toledo City, Cebu

The bookkeepers of First Consolidated Cooperative Along Tañon Seaboards (FCCT) have honed their longstanding knowledge about the generation of financial reports, financial literacy and many more as they attend the one-day training and seminar on the Enhancement of FCCT Management Information System (MIS) and Standard Chart of Accounts (SCA). It was attended by the Bookkeepers of the Service Centers of Daanbantayan, Bogo, Tabuelan, Tuburan, Balamban, Don Andres Soriano, Sangi (Toledo City), Carcar City, Cantabaco, San Carlos City, Calatrava, Escalante, Guihulngan and FCCT Head Office. Pinamungajan Service Center sent their Officer in Charge and the two newly-hired staff (both the Bookkeeper and the Cashier). Unfortunately, the bookkeepers of Manjuyod and Madridejos Service Centers were unable to attend for some personal causes.

The goal of the activity was for the bookkeepers to be fully equipped in adapting the FCCT Integrated Accounting System (iAccs) for accuracy in the generation of financial reports using accurate standard chart of accounts. FCCT has been using this system for many years already for the safekeeping of the members’ accounts and all other important data of the cooperative.

Bookkeepers already have the necessary knowledge in dealing with the system given that the attendees (except for the newly-hired staff) have been using the program for a long period of time. Despite that, there are still differences in the reports and questions with regards to the documents submitted. Whether the differences are premeditated or not, still, it must be discussed and corrected.

Resource persons were invited as speakers. Some are from the Board of Directors; some are from the Head Office. Mr. Romy T. Yusores, FCCT Human Capital Officer, acted as the facilitator of the whole activity. Mr. Leonardo S. Sabroso, FCCT CEO, gave a speech at the start of the program and welcomed the participants. Mr. Magdaleno T. Bargamento, BOD Vice Chairman, talked on the Standard Chart of Accounts together with Ms. Maricel E. Cutamora, FCCT Accounting Officer, who also spoke about the Updates on the Due To/Due From Accounts. Mrs. Loreta D. Robles, FCCT Treasurer, keyed in on how to make a Bank Reconciliation. Mr. Verlien Philip A. Lebios, FCCT IT Officer, tackled about IT matters, which include the iAccs System, Back-Up processes, Skype as a means for communication and Internet Connection; the topic that all of them were very much concerned about.

To wrap up everything after one whole day of discussion, issues and concerns from the service centers were brought up. Some may not be in line with the activity at hand, but still needs to be addressed to; things that also need to be enhanced and improved.

We may have been doing things for a long period of time, but still, there is always room for us to enhance and improve our skills and knowledge. Mark Twain once said, “Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection.” We don’t need to be perfect; we just have to be better, especially with our work.
